Hi Everyone!
Spring is officially here in Scotland, and although it’s still pretty chilly, the small bursts of sunshine have been well received. It’s especially pleasant to see the flowers and trees slowly blossoming. The other day, I even went foraging in the park for wild garlic as it grows abundantly here and tastes delicious (once you wash it thoroughly, of course)!
Connections
Over the past few weeks, in addition to reconnecting with nature, I’ve also connected with some amazing women as part of the AW80W recruitment process. It’s been great to receive interest from various women from all over the globe with such diverse and unique stories. Currently, I’m setting up interviews with these remarkable women, and I’m eager to hear their experiences before sharing them with you.
Watch this space for narratives from New Zealand, the Netherlands and Bolivia, to name only a few!
Storytime
Since the last update, I’ve published two fascinating stories that I’m excited to share with you.
Kira’s story from Ohio, USA, highlights her vital work with the LGBTQ+ community and individuals with neurodiversity in her role as a therapist. Recent headlines haven’t been easy reading for anyone who cares about equality, especially when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community in the US. Therefore, in this challenging climate, Kira’s voice becomes even more crucial, and her story deserves our attention.
Elaheh’s Story from Iran paints a picture bursting with the beauty and artistic soul of her country—a world often hidden in mainstream media. While Elaheh addresses the challenges women face, such as the mandatory hijab, her story proudly showcases Iran’s rich traditions and remarkable educational opportunities. Prepare to discover a side of Iran you may be unfamiliar with.
What Will Your Story Look Like?
As always, I encourage women to reach out to me to share their stories. Respect and tolerance are important to me, so the term’ women’ is used in its most inclusive sense. I’d love to hear your story, so don’t hesitate to email me at AW80W.project@gmail.com
I particularly encourage those from underrepresented or marginalised groups to take part. Diverse voices need to be heard.
Thank you for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Take care,
Rachel : )
